Coxlease School, located in the heart of the New Forest in Lyndhurst, is a specialised independent school for children aged 9 to 18 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and other related conditions/needs. With a highly experienced team of staff and therapists, Coxlease School provides a nurturing and supportive environment where students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.


Your role will be to provide high-quality, one-to-one education and support to a particular pupil with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs who requires additional educational provision outside of the SEMH school setting. As the Lead Coordinator for this pupil, you will work closely with the SEMH school team, including the Headteacher, SENCO, and the pupil's class teacher to ensure that the pupil's educational, social, and emotional needs are met in a cohesive and coordinated manner.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality one-to-one teaching and support to the pupil, based on their individual needs and interests, both in the home and community setting.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised educational programmes of study that focus on the pupil's strengths, interests, and learning goals, using a range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Work closely with other teachers/support staff team to ensure that the pupil's educational, social, and emotional needs are being met, and to maintain effective communication with the team about the pupil's progress, achievements, and concerns.
  • Act as the Lead Coordinator for the pupil, liaising with other professionals involved in the pupil's care, including social workers, psychologists, and medical professionals, to ensure that the pupil's needs are being met holistically.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the pupil's progress, achievements, and concerns, and provide regular written reports to the SEMH school team and other professionals involved in the pupil's care.
  • Act in accordance with school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety policies, at all times.


Person Specification:

  • You many be a qualified teacher or be a cover supervisor/tutor with a passion for working with pupils with SEMH needs, and experience of working with pupils with a range of additional needs and disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and other professionals involved in the pupil's care.
  • Highly organized, with excellent planning and time-management skills, and the ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • A strong commitment to inclusive education, with a clear understanding of the importance of differentiation and meeting the individual needs of pupils.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, and a willingness to undertake training and development to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • A full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
  • This is a full-time, permanent position, subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Coxlease School is an independent specialist day school, located near Lyndhurst, Hampshire. Our School enjoys a beautiful setting in the heart of the New Forest and is well situated for easy access across to many areas of southern England and the Midlands.
