Exciting opportunity to work at Ark Helenswood Academy in Hastings.

We are currently looking for a Science Teacher to join Ark Helenswood Academy, a large all-girls academy in Hastings.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and aspirational school. We are seeking an experienced teacher who is enthusiastic, energetic and ambitious to join our well qualified, committed staff and add capacity to our Science Department, delivering outstanding teaching and learning of their subject to ensure students achieve excellent academic results.

The ideal candidate will:

 • be experienced in raising attainment in a challenging classroom environment • have proven experience working successfully with students of all abilities 

• be able to show evidence of continually improving the teaching and learning of their subject though schemes of work and extra-curricular activities 

• be committed to Ark’s ethos of high expectations and no excuses.  

We are looking for someone with a passion and determination to see all students, regardless of background or ability, succeed in their education, gain access to university and lead fulfilling lives in careers of their choice.   

This role is suitable for either a NQT or an experienced teacher.  

Ark Helenswood Academy is part of Ark’s Hastings ‘hub’ – alongside Ark William Parker Academy, Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy and Ark Blacklands Primary Academy. The schools work in close collaboration with a shared vision and shared resources. While each school retains its ethos and values, the Ark Hastings hub allows staff to share ideas and develop their careers across several academies.  Both Ark Helenswood and Ark William Parker have a long history in Hastings and we believe that working together we can provide outstanding educational opportunities for students in the area. Together, we will continue to raise standards and attainment, ensuring every pupil has access to the highest quality education.

About Ark Helenswood Academy

Ark Helenswood Academy is a secondary school for girls aged 11-18, located in St Leonards-on-Sea, near Hastings, East Sussex. The school is part of Ark, an international charity that has 38 schools in Birmingham, Hastings, London and Portsmouth. Ark Helenswood converted to academy status and joined the Ark network in 2013, although its admissions procedures are still overseen by East Sussex County Council. 

Ark Helenswood Academy shares a sixth form with a local boys' school, Ark William Parker Academy.

“Many middle leaders have welcomed the culture shift generated by Ark and the Principal since the start of this academic year. They know that they must be the driving force for change. Practically all middle leaders have risen to the challenge enthusiastically. Staff responses to the questionnaire reflected increasing confidence combined with realism about issues such as behaviour. The academy has wisely and successfully adopted many of the Ark programmes to develop staff’s skills."
