We are looking to appoint a committed professional to the role of Science Teacher with additional responsibility for Medics Scholars Programme at William Perkin CE High School. William Perkin Church of England High School was opened in 2013 and is part of the Twyford Church of England Academies Trust. Its GCSE results in its first two years of exams placed it in the top 10 schools in the country in terms of progress and it has grown a large and flourishing sixth form. The school is founded on the successful systems and approaches of Twyford CE High School, with the principle difference that it is a distinctively Christian school with open admission criteria. The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (May 2025) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative Science teacher and curriculum planner who is looking to plan and deliver the Medics Scholars Programme, and for monitoring the progress of students. We work collaboratively to create a curriculum that inspires, challenges and nurtures students, using ambitious outcomes, which leads to thorough subject knowledge and sustained progress. The new post-holder will contribute to a consistently high quality of teaching and learning in the department, and will support the development of a culture of sharing good practice.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status

  • Ability to teach Science to at least KS5

  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum

  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement

William Perkin Church of England High School is a highly successful and heavily oversubscribed school which achieves exceptional outcomes for its students. It opened as a Free School in September 2013 and its progress measures at GCSE have consistently placed it in the top 5% of schools nationally and it has a flourishing sixth form with a particular specialism in STEM subjects. William Perkin works closely with Imperial College London, The Royal Society and the Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) to ensure our success as a centre of excellence for Science. It serves the local community in North Greenford but benefits from being part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust which is the top-performing MAT in the UK. Twyford CE Academies Trust

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a Multi Academy Trust which comprises four secondary schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable our heavily oversubscribed existing school, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. Over a 10-year period it launched three new schools Ealing Fields, William Perkin and Ada Lovelace all of which have achieved progress outcomes ranking them in the top 1% of schools nationally, making TCEAT the highest performing Trust in the UK including the progress made by disadvantaged students.
