Job overview
THE TEACHER OF SCIENCE will be responsible for the planning, resourcing and delivery of Science lessons for the secondary school, including the Cambridge iGCSE Coordinated Science and Marine Science programmes. They will support the school’s provision of extracurricular activities and ocean education, in addition to being a proud representative of the school to the wider community.
Qualifications
A formal teaching qualification, degree or diploma with specialism in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Marine Science.
Proven commitment to child wellbeing and safeguarding
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Experience with an international curriculum or the willingness to learn
Personal Qualities
Passion for working to improve the lives of young people
Integrity, resilience, and adaptability
Strong problem-solving, and decision-making skills

About Luderitz Blue School

The Lüderitz Blue School is a not-for-profit private international school offering the British National Curriculum in Lüderitz, Namibia - the only international school in the region. We currently offer Reception up to Year 10, with Year 11 beginning in 2027. Since opening in January 2023, our school has gone from strength to strength, welcoming more learners, staff and volunteers to our family. We currently have 80 enrolled pupils, including a high proportion on full scholarship, and our numbers are growing quickly. In January 2024, we opened our first boarding house to be able to welcome students from outside Lüderitz.
As a Blue School, we emphasise the importance of ocean education and teach our own unique curriculum - 'Marine and Maritime Studies' - inspired by our surroundings. In addition, our students all take a formal iGCSE in Marine Science and we host a weekly Oceans Day every Friday afternoon encouraging students to enjoy the water through research, field work, surfing, sailing, rowing and more. Our partnership with aquaculture company, Kelp Blue, leaves us uniquely placed to prepare students for careers within the Blue Economy and beyond.
