We have a fantastic opportunity at our Newry campus for an experienced and interactive Science Teacher to join the team on a full time, temporary (maternity cover) basis and to teach our students in KS3-KS4. You will be adept at coaching our students to see and lead through challenges in their learning, so they make the best possible progress in each and every lesson.

You will:

·        A secure knowledge and understanding of the

·        concepts and skills essential to success for

·        students in Science

·        A secure knowledge of the National

·        Curriculum for teaching Science at KS3

·        and KS4

·        Experience of successful teaching as a Science teacher 

·        Experience of successful teaching as an outstanding classroom practitioner

·        Understanding of statutory frameworks relating to teaching

·        Qualified Teacher Status

·        Degree educated

·        Commitment to personal and professional development

·        Full working knowledge of relevant and current policies/codes of practice and legislation within education

·        Proven track record of examination success at GCSE

·        Experience of using ICT, VLE and digital resources to deliver learning.

·        Ability to establish good working relationships and effective teamwork

·        Good communication skills written and verbal

·        Good organisational skills

Key responsibilities:

·        To ensure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of care, learning and achievement for all pupils.

·        To monitor student progress, keeping student records that include assessment outcomes and targets set at regular intervals in line with OneSchool Global Policy, to enable all students to achieve their full potential. 

·        Promote and support the ethos of the school;

·        Attend assemblies and events, and contributing to the preparation of these throughout the year;

·        Work to achieve the general and particular aims of the school, expressed in the School Mission Statement and the School Improvement Plan;

·        To plan effectively to ensure pupils have the opportunity to meet their potential, notwithstanding differences of race and gender, and taking account of the needs of pupils who are under achieving or very able.

·        To plan effectively to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and in collaboration with the SENCO, prepare, implement, monitor and review Individual Educational Plans.

·        To assess, record and monitor each pupil’s progress in line with the National Framework profile and to report to parents.

·        To monitor pupil’s class and home activities, providing constructive, oral and written feedback.

·        To use teaching strategies that keep pupils engaged through effective questioning, lively presentation and good use of resources.

·        To create a safe and stimulating learning environment that supports learning and in which pupils feel secure and confident.

OneSchool Global UK Newry Campus occupies a completely refurbished building with many specialist facilities. It is generously staffed with professional teachers who are all fully qualified and experienced in their subjects. There are extremely positive relationships between Staff and Trustees, all of whom work hard for the benefit of the students. The strong links between the Primary and Secondary Departments assist transition for students from Year 6 to Year 7 and fosters whole school activities.
