We are looking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Science teacher, willing to work in a team of six hardworking, committed and highly motivated colleagues responding to the challenges of a unique school. The candidate will have a range of teaching experience covering all age ranges and abilities in a secondary school including one subject at A’ Level. The ability to produce resources which take into account the special needs of second language learners is desirable. Applications from candidates with an ability to teach more than one Science subject at IGCSE level as well as an understanding of the EmSAT Physics requirements, will be particularly welcomed.
Students are taught in five groups in years 7 and 8, and four in year 9 and above. The courses are practical in approach, with a focus on critical thinking and Science skills. The department is very well resourced and supported by two qualified technicians.
Teaching approaches are varied and an atmosphere of enthusiastic but ordered learning is encouraged.
Years 10 and 11 courses include Double Science (Combined) and BTEC Applied Science for less able students. Classes of 8 to 12 students are usual.
Year 12 offers courses in Physics, Biology and Chemistry to AS’ Level and students also follow the school’s own High School Diploma course, leading to graduation at the end of year 12.
Year 13 offers the students the opportunity to study Physics, Chemistry and Biology to A2’ Level.
All interested candidates who live in the local region may be invited to teach a lesson as part of the interview process.
The salary structure is based on a ten point scale. The basic salary will depend upon previous experience but will be in the range of AED 13,000 to 19,470 per month. A teacher with ten years’ experience will start at the top of the pay scale. The salary is tax free and paid at the end of each month. There is a terminal gratuity between AED 8,715 and AED 23,000 for each year of employment (this amount increases throughout your employment).
There are a range of additional allowances paid to staff on an overseas contract which will be discussed if you are invited to interview.
