Vision for Education is looking to appoint a science teacher to work within a Pupil Referral Unit to support pupils with challenging behaviour and those who may have been excluded from a mainstream school.

The duties include:

  • Teaching small classes of up to 10 students, sometimes on a one to one basis
  • Creatively planning and differentiating your lessons for individualised learning, working in collaboration with a range of specialists (e.g. therapists and counsellors)
  • Opportunities to learn more with ongoing training
  • Feeling supported with a high ratio of staff to students

To be successful in a PRU or SEBD school you will need:

  • QTS (or comparable qualifications to teach in the UK)
  • A dynamic and creative approach to teaching
  • An ability to engage students and promote independence
  • A good basic understanding of SEN and additional needs
  • Assertiveness
  • To work effectively with other members of staff and external agencies
  • A willingness to learn and develop your own knowledge and skill set
