Job overview

Seeking to recruit a Science Technician/Apprentice Science Technician to assist the Senior Science technicians and provide technical support service to staff and students undertaking the science curriculum. 


Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain effective systems for the science technician team.  
  • Ensure efficient preparation and organisation of equipment for lessons and support teaching staff and pupils during lessons. 
  • To ensure the application of Health and Safety procedures and to raise awareness of H&S issues specifically in relation to laboratories. 

 

 

Applicant requirements 

  • Detailed knowledge of COSHH and ESCC regulations in relation to the safe handling and storage of chemicals will be an advantage, but full training can be provided. 
  • Detailed knowledge of safe working practices in relation to the handling and usage of hazardous equipment and tools will be an advantage, but full training can be provided. 
  • A Levels or NVQ3 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) or equivalent. For the apprentice role an A level in a Science subject will be required. 
  • Time management and organisational and people skills. Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload and that of others.

Educating 1200 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large, thriving co-educational sixth form, with over one hundred girls on roll.
