The academy is looking to appoint a versatile and committed Science Technician to support our busy Science faculty by providing a first-class resourcing service. The successful candidate will be organised and efficient with an ongoing commitment to raising the achievement of our students.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience of working in a similar scientific or technical environment
  • Have good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Be able to work to tight timescales and manage an effective workload
  • Be able to perform manual lifting, bending and porterage duties


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing apparatus and equipment for practical lessons
  • Ensuring the maintenance and servicing of science machinery, equipment and apparatus
  • Monitoring stock control and ensure materials and equipment are managed
  • Assisting with creating inspiring teaching displays throughout the department

About The Bishop of Winchester Academy

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
