Job overview
We are looking for a passionate Science Technician to join our growing Science department.
The successful candidate will be part of a technical team of three, supporting the Science department as it grows. They will be working closely with the Senior Science Technician to support the Science faculty to deliver an engaging and varied practical curriculum.
The successful candidate will have a background in science and / or experience within a secondary school science department. Experience of working within a school environment is desirable although not essential.
The role primarily involves supporting the Science department by overseeing and monitoring stock levels, preparation of equipment and chemicals for experiments and supporting the science team in the delivery of student experiments and demonstrations. The Science technician will share the academy's vision and the belief that all young people can achieve. Other necessary qualities include confidentiality, efficiency and being able to work on your own initiative and under pressure; and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of King’s Academy Binfield (KAB.)
The post is for 37 hours per week (term time only plus 2 days), however part time or flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. Support outside of the school day may be required for events such as open evenings.

Terms: 38 weeks + 2 days. 37 hours per week (Mon-Fri, hours to be agreed).
Part time working hours can be considered for the right candidate.
KAB opened in a superb building in September 2018 with 120 Year 7 students. In September 2019 the primary phase opened, along with King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO), a brand new 1 FE primary school a mile away. From September 2024, we collectively have students from nursery to year 6 in primary, and year 7 to year 13 in secondary. Both academies are run cohesively sharing the same leadership, staff, values, curriculum, opportunities and expectations of excellence.
King’s Academy Binfield and King’s Academy Oakwood are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
