The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly organised Science Technician, to deliver an efficient and effective support service in the Science Department.

 

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Science Technician who will be responsible for providing technical support in Science subjects from KS3 to KS4. The role involves providing a wide variety of resources to support science lessons, especially pupil practical experiments and teacher demonstrations, including clearing up.

You will be required to work in accordance with strict health and safety guidance and procedures ensuring that a healthy, safe and productive learning and teaching environment is maintained. A calm, friendly and helpful manner is essential, as is the ability to adapt and be flexible to the requirements of the Department.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of COSHH regulations and a relevant Science qualification, ideally with previous experience of working in a Science department, School or commercial laboratory. Good communication skills and the ability to be organised, methodical and resourceful are essential.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOOL
St. Thomas More High School is a voluntary aided Catholic comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11 to 16, situated close to the centre of Crewe, in Cheshire. It is smaller than average; at present there are 604 pupils on roll with slightly more boys than girls . Most pupils are drawn from four parishes within the Shrewsbury Diocese, and the school serves a wide, diverse area that includes areas both of social deprivation and relative affluence.
