Job overview

We are seeking a Science Technician to support and complement our existing technician team at this outstanding grammar school. We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and proactive team player who understands the legislative health and safety requirements regarding school technical operations.

This role is part of a team of technicians and is essential in supporting biology as well as providing occasional support in other STEM subjects as required. This will include liaising with teaching and support staff to ensure that the team are co-ordinating and providing the required service.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

·        Under the direction of the Senior Technician, and relevant teaching staff, to provide technical support for science lessons (predominantly biology), and to support other extra-curricular science activities, including:

- preparation and setting up of practicals and demonstrations

- clearing away equipment and chemicals at the end of lessons

- washing up equipment

·        To assist with routine health and safety monitoring checks

·        To undertake maintenance checks on science equipment

·        To maintain records

·        To assist with stocktaking, in liaison with the Senior Technician

·        To assist other members of the science support staff team

·        To attend whole school and department meetings as appropriate
