Dorset Studio School is looking to appoint an experienced Science Technician for September 2019.

The Science Technician is a member of the Science Team and is responsible for helping with the organisation and day-to-day running of the school science laboratories and preparation room.

The successful applicant will be required to carry out a technician role working across the Science department preparing materials and supporting the learning of students within a practical field.  The duties will include setting up and maintaining equipment, supporting the work of the department, the school, students and staff.

The ability to communicate clearly is essential and the ability to relate to staff and students.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake appropriate checks in order to be offered the post as well as providing proof of your right to work in the UK.  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to respect this commitment.  The post is subject to receipt of satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

The Dorset Studio School opened in September 2014, welcoming students to a brand new specialist school designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and experience they require to succeed in work.

Dorset Studio School offers this new concept in education, where 11–16 year olds can benefit from a different model of learning that captures and channels potential to the highest levels. Dorset Studio School is an Academy and part of a national network of similar schools supported by the Studio Schools Trust.

In partnership with Kingston Maurward Agricultural College, young people have the opportunity to complete their 11-19 studies, within a fully operational, commercial environment, which provides hands on learning in the rural industries.
