Science Technician

We looking for a enthusiastic, self-motivated team player to join our fantastic Science Department as a Science Technician for an initially period of one academic year.    You will have a vital role to play in supporting laboratory practical lessons from Year 7 – 11.  

The successful applicant will be responsible to the Senior Science Technician in co-ordinating the use and development of practical resources and facilities, including the provision of guidance and support in meeting the practical requirements of the Science curriculum, liaising with all areas of the school and outside organisations.     

You will be required to prepare materials in readiness for lessons, make samples and/or demonstrate techniques to students and provide 'hands on' support working with individual students during practical lessons as required.   

The ideal candidate will have a practical background, be well-organised and able to demonstrate a degree of flexibility to co-operate with others to ensure the sharing and effective use of resources to benefit the school, faculty and students.   

Previous experience as a Science Technician in a secondary school is preferred although training will be provided and there will be an expectation that the post-holder will attend relevant safety courses and update training as required.   

The working hours are 5 days per week, 08.30 -16.00, Term Time plus INSETS, although we will consider alternative hours for the right candidate.    The actual salary (dependant on experience): £14,204 - £17,261 (FTE £17,564 - £21,344)  

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this position.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
