Actual Salary:      £14269.33 - £16070.66 

Hours of Work:     30 hours per week x 39 weeks per year (term time only)

We are looking for a colleague to join the Science team at Scott Medical and Healthcare College. The post requires the successful applicant to work with the lead teaching staff to facilitate the development, organisation, provision, and clean management of science experiments and demonstrations.  You must have a desire and determination to make a significant contribution to the outcomes of students within a GLT school in Plymouth and further contribute to the life chances of the young people in the school and across the Trust.

Main responsibilities and duties:

• To coordinate the use of practical resources and facilities and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the science curriculum, including liaising with teaching staff and support staff outside the department.

• To ensure the maintenance of a healthy & safe working environment

• Co-ordinate the day-to-day organisation and development of resources across biology, chemistry and physics at Key Stages 4 and 5 only. 

• To contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and/or long-term projects.

• To ensure the availability of suitable materials and equipment, helping to compile orders and liaising or negotiating with suppliers and finance departments. This will include sourcing, costing and suggesting economic alternatives to maintain stock levels. Keeping accurate up-to-date stock records.

• To ensure that both routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, calibration, testing and repairing of equipment are carried out to the required standard.
