Science Technician 

Full Time, 40 weeks per year 

£22,179 pro rata salary 

Starting 1 September 2023 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Science Technician who is organised and enthusiastic about providing high quality technical support to the science department. The science department consists of three departments Chemistry, Physics. You will join us at an exciting time as we look to develop the technician’s role by offering further professional development to enhance skills and responsibilities.


We are seeking a science specialist capable of ideally supporting biology and chemistry and resources across all key stages: up to and including A Level, who will make a positive impact on the smooth running of lessons. This role combines the opportunity to work closely with the science faculty as a whole, plus also work directly with students offering technical advice and support as required.


The successful candidate will be joining a high-performing school and will work with a highly experienced and successful team. 


You will be a committed team player with excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will be confident in their specialist knowledge ideally up to science GCSE and A level but training will be given, the vision for this role as someone who is willing to learn new skills and develop expertise. Denstone has an established and successful team who pride themselves on providing our school community with exemplary pastoral and academic care and we are seeking a colleague who can exemplify this to the highest standards.


The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a relevant technical role
  • Excellent knowledge in either Biology, Chemistry or Physics (or across all areas)
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • A high degree of professionalism
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments utilizing COSHH or CLEAPSS
  • The ability to work unsupervised, use initiative and make appropriate decisions.
