We believe that the strengths of the two schools will unite to offer our students a truly ground breaking opportunity. Our first intake of Year 7 students will join our existing cohorts in Years 10 to 13 in September 2020.

About Us 


We are delighted that our recent Ofsted (July 2018) recognised all that we do and found us to be a Good school with Outstanding features.

We are looking for an experienced Science Technician to support the delivery of Science in our innovative programme. Our technicians will also perform a secondary support role for classes and students within their subject area and will perform a vital task in helping to ensure that our students will achieve their very best.

Initially the role will be from 9:00 to 12:30 Monday to Friday – there may be a little flexibility with this, Term Time only. The role will grow as the UTC does: as the Science team grows the post holder may be able to take a leading role in the formation of a technician team within science.

The Role

We will be employing only the very best teachers and support staff whose primary focus will be to drive academic excellence alongside technical proficiency. You will be highly presentable and will demonstrate:

• A high level of scientific knowledge and understanding

• Experience of acting as a Science Technician

• A willingness to work with young people in support of their studies.


This post is advertised as Part Time/Term Time only role.  Salary would be £18,000 FTE (pro rata for part time/term time working would be around £7,800 pa)

Thomas Telford UTC is one of only two 11-18 University Technical Colleges in the country. Over the past 4 years we have recruited into Year 10 and Year 12. These students were joined by our first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2020. We are significantly over-subscribed in Year 7. We are based at the University of Wolverhampton’s Springfield Campus on the edge of the city centre with plans for significant expansion of the school building over the coming year.
