Job overview

The Blue Coat School is seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to support the growth and quality of its Initial Teacher Education through the Manchester Nexus SCITT.

The successful candidate will work to support the SCITT Director to lead and manage recruitment for ITE, provide support in the planning and delivery of training and quality assure the progress of trainees across a partnership of 30 schools.

You will work closely with the SCITT Director, Course lead (Assistant Head) and SCITT Administrator to lead and manage recruitment for ITE and provide support in the planning and delivery of training and quality assuring provision across a partnership of over 30 schools.

You will be exceptionally well-organised, meticulous on detail (a lot of compliance is involved), and creative. We have to get the best trainees to want to come to us, and work in our area and our schools, and once we have attracted them, we have to keep them.

The person appointed will be a qualified teacher and teach 6-8 periods per week but be otherwise supporting the work of the SCITT.

This role offers the opportunity to develop leadership and management skills, and will entail communicating with applicants, the SCITT Board; the wider school re the continuation of teacher training and development. There is some financial management involved, project planning, future-thinking, and, of course, inspection.

It is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of the roll-out of school-based ITE in a nationally accredited organisation, and at the heart of teacher development.

The job description and person specification and application form is located on our website, and the right person for this job will be someone who has been involved in ITE and understands the challenges and requirements.

About The Blue Coat CofE School

Welcome to The Blue Coat School

Mission statement:  Faith – Vision – Nurture

Welcome to The Blue Coat School website, which we hope will give you a really good insight into our school, and show how our young people are learning how to become everything they can be, and are meant to be.  You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do, and why we are very proud of our academic record.  Just as important, you’ll also find, in the newsletters especially, a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of Blue Coat’s provision.  I hope you will also see how the school’s Christian ethos shines through, and that all our young people, of all faiths and denominations, learn to grow together in love, compassion, generosity of spirit, and mutual respect.  If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a National Teaching School and lead school of The Northern Alliance and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through the School Direct programme.  We look forward to meeting you.

Mr R Higgins

Headteacher
