Sacred Heart School is looking to appoint a dynamic and ambitious Co-Head of Mathematics with responsibility for KS5.

We are seeking an outstanding and experienced practitioner to co-lead this highly successful department. Experience of teaching Mathematics at KS3, KS4 and KS5 is essential.  Mathematics at Sacred Heart is a very popular option at A Level and the successful candidate will have a proven track record of inspirational teaching, will be able to manage a diverse team of teachers and will have a dynamic, informed vision of Mathematics. 

You will lead on all aspects of KS5 Mathematics teaching, promoting interest in the subject across the full age range of the school. We will expect you to manage and develop a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the subject area. There is the opportunity to make a big impact on standards of student attainment and achievement through your fresh ideas, motivational skills and keen focus on improvement.

Key responsibilities 

1. New curriculum:

- Keeping the team up to date with all the new changes at KS5

- Developing the team with inspirational methods of teaching

- Developing the department’s scheme of Work with resources

2. Organisation of exams

- Liaising with the exams officer about exam entries and any resits / changes 

- Being responsible for the organisation of Weekly Mock exams for Years 12 and 13

3. Monitoring of all assessments in years 12/13:

- Entry of results from all of teachers of KS5 for internal examinations

- Identifying pupils who should be on intervention

- Following up intervention attendance

4. Recruitment in the sixth form:

- To promote interest in A Level Maths to KS4 students
