Tes is seeking a passionate and experienced Second in Chemistry to join a 'Good' rated school in Hertfordshire on a full-time basis from September 2020.

The school is looking for an inspiring and motivational Second in Department who can enthuse and engage students to achieve their full potential and build on the very high standards of this successful department which has a national reputation for excellence. If you are a committed individual who wishes to add to the success of the Science department by implementing their own ideas and strategies and embrace creativity, innovation and the very best practice in teaching, then this could be the role for you. 

The Science Department is a team of thirteen teachers who are Science specialists with Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 Managers who also have oversight of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Psychology.  There is a core of experienced teachers and a variety of ages.  The department is recognised by the Senior Leadership Team as being a model for cooperative teamwork.   All colleagues teach across the age and ability range, which has consistently produced excellent examination results at all levels.

The school expects:

  • A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A relevant BSc/MSc in Science - Chemistry or a related subject
  • Previous experience of delivering Chemistry
