Duties
The duties outlined in this job description are in addition to those covered by the latest School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and those described on the job description of the ‘Class Teacher’. This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the Principal and member of staff, and will be reviewed annually.
The Role
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, hardworking and knowledgeable Maths teacher for the role of Second in Department (Maths). This role represents an opportunity for the right person to contribute to the development and strategic direction of the Maths Department. Collaborating closely with the Head of Maths, the Second in Department will play a pivotal role in supporting curriculum and staff development, ensuring the highest quality of teaching, and moving a strong department forward to become outstanding.
The Department
The Maths Department is a strong, highly experienced and collaborative team of 8 specialists with a range of academic interests and professional competencies. Students are set throughout key stages 3 and 4, allowing for personalised teaching with a view to achieving mastery. At key stage 4 students follow the Edexcel specification for Maths GCSE, with some of our most able opting to complete Further Maths and Statistics in addition to this. At A Level we have a good take up for Maths A Level and consistently strong results.

Clyst Vale Community College is a mixed, non-denominational academy secondary school and sixth form for students aged 11-18. It is located in Broadclyst, near Exeter, in the county of Devon, and has about 900 pupils.
