The Role

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, hardworking and knowledgeable Science teacher for the role of Second in Department (Science). This role represents an opportunity for the right person to contribute to the development and strategic direction of the Science Department. Collaborating closely with the Head of Science, the Second in Department will play a pivotal role in supporting curriculum and staff development, ensuring the highest quality of teaching, and moving a strong department forward to become outstanding.

The Department

The Science Department is a strong and collaborative team of 12 specialists and 3 technicians with a range of academic interests and professional competencies. Students are setted from year 8, allowing for personalised teaching with a view to achieving mastery. At key stage 4 students follow the Edexcel specification for Combined Science GCSEs, with some of our most passionate Scientists opting to complete GCSEs in separate Sciences. At A Level we offer five subjects including BTEC Applied Science and A Levels in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Environmental Science and have a good take up and excellent results.

The College

This is an exciting time in Clyst Vale’s development journey, with a new Headteacher starting in post in January of this year and a clear mission, shared by all, to fully reach our potential as an outstanding educational establishment. Clyst Vale is one of only 600 schools in the country to be awarded UNICEFs Gold: rights Respecting accreditation. We are proud of this achievement, as it evidences our core ethos of respect, participate, learn and underpins everything we do in college.
