We are looking to appoint a Second in English Faculty at City Academy, 156 Newhall Street Birmingham, B3 1SJ. You will be joining an Academy Trust team who are passionate in our endeavours to ensure that all students achieve their very best. 

This role will include;

· Developing the curriculum, Teaching & Learning and assessment within the English Faculty including the development of an appropriate syllabus, schemes of work, lesson plans, resources, and assessment materials

· Supporting the Head of Faculty to inspire and develop your team to offer all children a great education in a stimulating environment, providing equality of opportunity for all. 

· Leading the development of a Key Stage in English,  co-ordinating assessment and progress tracking of students, identifying the need for intervention when student fall behind and successfully securing the good progress of all students.

· Managing staff who teach and/or support the teaching of English, supporting their development and ensuring consistent high quality teaching of English for all students.

· Raising the profile of English, literacy and oracy, instilling a love of language, literature and reading within the school community and raising standards through an effective cross-curricular approach to literacy and oracy.

· Participating in the life of the school to ensure all students benefit from high quality pastoral support and a range of enrichment opportunities.

The ability to be flexible and versatile will be fundamental within this role.
