Job overview

We are seeking to create a dynamic new leadership team in the department and are seeking to appoint a talented teacher to the post of Second in Humanities/Lead Teacher of Geography.

An enthusiastic, committed and forward looking teacher is required who can contribute to the growth of these subjects. The successful candidate will be an accomplished classroom practitioner and will be responsible for the Geography curriculum as we move towards Geography/History being a compulsory choice for all students.

The Humanities department is a new venture for September 2016 combining two successful subject areas of Geography and History whose results have been consistently strong over a number of years.

We are more interested in the skills and potential of candidates than their age or years of experience. We want staff with the vision and determination to ensure all our students receive a first class education and who will rise to the challenge of building on success. In return, we will support you totally in the development of the department, will help your creativity in innovating opportunities for students and will share your determination to make the subject ‘Outstanding’. For you, personally, we guarantee support in your own professional development. In short, we expect you to be eligible for career progression within a short period of time and hope that together we can prepare you for the next level.

You would be joining a school that is on a journey of rapid improvement and a team that is passionate about their students and about those students succeeding and achieving their best. There is a buzz about what is happening here at Bishop Perowne and a very different feel to the corridors and classrooms in the last weeks and months.

An information pack and application form can be obtained from Mrs K J Wigley, the Headteacher’s P.A. at the above address. Informal contact with the College is welcomed. Applications must be made via an Application Form available from the College, together with a covering letter.

Closing date for receiving applications: 9.00am on Tuesday, 3 May 2016
Interviews: Friday, 6th May 2016

Bishop Perowne Church of England College is an equal opportunities employer. This College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to a clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
