We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and highly effective second in department to support the Head of Department for Maths. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspiring subject specialist to lead on identified roles within the department; the successful applicant will be responsible for leading and teaching maths across all key stages and must be prepared to teach GCSE. The ability to teach KS5 is desirable as we are committed to continuing to provide excellent Post 16 provision.

The Maths Department at Outwood Academy Danum has 11 purpose-built classrooms based in our brand-new building, each equipped with an interactive TV to support the delivery of lessons. You will be joining a strong department that ranges in experience from Unqualified Teachers and Early Career Teachers to more than 20 years of experience and members of the Senior Leadership Team. We also benefit from a one-to-one tutor who offers intervention to students. The department is led by our experienced Head of Department with a vision to succeed. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are major priorities for the Trust, as this enables us to facilitate rapid progression for those who want to advance either in the classroom or at a leadership level.

You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and School Improvement Partners as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of 90 minutes CPD per week, and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools. One of our maths senior colleagues leads the Yorkshire and the Humber MathsHub and therefore leads a path of opportunities for you to get involved in the fantastic projects they run.
