Job overview

Quite possibly the greatest opportunity of your career is awaiting you; an exciting opportunity to support the leadership of the passionate and hardworking PE department; by becoming second in the department. This exciting position is for a permanent, full time position. Potential is just as important as experience.

King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) is now looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative second in department for Physical Education to play an intrinsic role in our new all-through academy in Bracknell Forest. This leadership post is for teaching secondary Physical Education, although there may be opportunities to work with the primary phases as required.

Our all-through school opened in a superb new building in September 2018 and we have grown year on year. In addition to the secondary phase, we also have two primary phases set across two sites, King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO). From September 2023, we will have students from year N to year 6 in primary and year 7 through to year 11. Our 6th Form, KAB6, opened in September 2023 with A level Physical Education being taught.

The Physical Education department has a positive presence in the school community, with a committed team of six members of teaching staff. Physical Education lessons are enjoyed by students and are a popular choice at Key Stage 4. The department has set up A level Physical Education this academic year with the new year 12 students which is a great success.

King’s Academy Binfield has outstanding sporting facilities which include a sports hall, dance studio, four netball/tennis courts, 4G all weather pitch and extensive playing fields.

Candidates should be excellent classroom teachers and have the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff and students to excel. Candidates must share the department's vision to encourage a healthy active lifestyle with a passion, enthusiasm and love of sport #DAREtobeactive.

The successful candidate will show great leadership potential, will be a team player, will get stuck in and involve themselves in the wider aspects of academy life including the Physical Education extra curricular programme. A genuine commitment to our ‘whatever it takes’ ethos is essential to enable every young person at KAB to thrive. The ability and knowledge to promote and teach Netball, Trampolining, Gymnastics or Girls Football would be desirable.

King's Academy Binfield and Oakwood are part of the King’s Group Academies MAT, led by a team of former and current Ofsted ‘outstanding’ head teachers and Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI). Please note link to King’s Group Academies Vision and Mission –
