We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teacher of Science to join Wootton Academy Trust as a Second in Science. Our Second in Science will work alongside our Head of Science and our other middle leaders in the department.

The successful candidate would be expected to have a passion for learning and teaching, together with the skills to inspire and motivate our learners to achieve the very best they can and to lead the effective delivery of an outstanding Science curriculum alongside the Head of Science.

Wootton Academy Trust has a fantastic team of 16 Science teachers who are dedicated to supporting learners make great progress as well as working as a tightly knit team. Some of our team are new to the profession, others are more experienced teachers. All share the same vision namely to provide the very best teaching and learning opportunities to every young person in the school and college. There is a strong track record of success at both GCSE and A Level.

We welcome applications from middle leaders with a track record of leading a department, as well as those who have other leadership experience or experienced teachers ready for their next challenge. Wootton Academy Trust  is a multi-academy trust made up of two academies:

Kimberley 16 - 19 STEM College - opened as a 16 - 19 Academy in 2013, specialising in Science and Mathematics. The College has over 650 students, over thirty different Level 3 courses and is the largest sixth form provider in Bedfordshire. It has featured regularly in the Sunday Times list of top performing sixth form colleges; The College is expected to continue growing with an anticipated 750 learners being on roll in September 2024.

Wootton Upper School is a 900-pupil academy with three-year groups [Years 9 -11]; it enjoys a reputation for excellence in the core and in the arts; it offers learners a liberal curriculum with a high degree of individual choice for learners to specialize in Key Stage 4 as well as a very diverse array of trips and visits.

The School and the College are both located in Bedford Borough; Kimberley is in the village of Stewartby, three miles from Wootton. Both are rated good by Ofsted.
