We are looking for a Second in Charge of Science. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Brakenhale school and become an integral member of the science team. We are an 11 to 18 school situated on the southern side of Bracknell town centre. Main responsibilities:

•        To assist the Head of Science in setting, monitoring and evaluating the subject pupil attainment targets in KS3, KS4 and post 16 public examinations to make a measurable contribution to whole school targets and student progress.

•        To act as a role model in leading subject staff through their own high-quality teaching, continuous professional development and professional presence in the department.

•        To assist the Head of Science in curriculum development to ensure the delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high quality and cost-effective curriculum programme.

•        To assist the Head of Science in providing regular feedback for subject colleagues in a way which recognises good practice and supports their progress against performance management objectives resulting in a tangible impact on student learning and progress.

•        Co-ordinate and contribute to the updating of curriculum plans and schemes of work within the department as necessary and oversee their implementation.

•        To liaise with the Head of Science to maintain an overview of all internal and external examinations and to ensure that the department is fully equipped to support students in preparing for them.

You will need:

•        Qualified teacher status

•        Relevant Degree

•        Evidence of / Commitment to continuing professional development

•        An outstanding classroom practitioner

•        Able to identify strengths and weaknesses in students and act appropriately

•        Good IT skills

•        Experience of leading and managing strategies within the Science department
