Second in Chemistry.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive Independent Boy's School,  based in Hertfordshire. The school is looking to add a Second in Chemistry to its progressive and supportive Science Department starting in September 2022.

The role will include coordinating and co-managing the delivery of Chemistry up to A-Level. You will support the Head of Science and Head of Chemistry to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

“This large independent school is located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.

They require an ambitious and enthusiastic specialist to join their highly successful, vibrant and collegiate Chemistry department. You will provide outstanding academic experience for all students studying Chemistry. Part of a team of 9, with dedicated Technicians, you will be academically well-qualified, inspirational and a dynamic teacher with natural leadership and the ability to motivate and inspire both your team and the students. A popular and strong subject with 90 boys currently studying at A-Level and 154 in year 11 at IGCSE."

The school is offering:

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQML and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• the chance to take on further responsibilities such as Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Chemistry Degree or a related subject

• experience delivering Chemistry up to A-level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• experience supporting your existing Head of Department to enhance overall results at departmental level

• a love and passion for education.
