St George’s British International School would like to appoint a Second in the team to the Director of Student Support Services. The post would involve supporting the learning and progress of students with special educational needs across the years as directed by the Director of Student Support, assessing the needs of students, reporting, and timetabling. This position is ideal for someone who has the right experience and training in Special Education, who might want at some time to undertake all of the duties and responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCO) or equivalent in an international setting. The Director of Student Support Services will line manage this position and will assist with ongoing training and guidance.
Essential requirements:
- A high standard of education (to degree level)
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Further recognised qualifications in Special Needs
- At least three years of school experience in working with young people with special needs and their families
- An understanding of and experience with a variety of needs
- An ability to lead people
- A good standard of spoken and written English
- A generous and sociable outlook
- A high standard of personal professionalism and a proven ability to work in a team
- A willingness to undertake ongoing training and a willingness to lead training sessions
Desirable but not essential:
- A qualification in teaching English as a foreign/second/additional language
- Bilingual in English and Italian, or a willingness to learn Italian
- A knowledge of applying for Access Arrangements for students with additional needs.
- A knowledge and experience of (I)GCSE/GCSE and IB courses and examinations

Salary
The successful candidate will receive a salary and benefits that are highly competitive in the international sector and consistent with the status that St George’s holds as an HMC school.
