Job overview

Appointment of a Second Master

Marlborough College Malaysia (MCM) is a fully coeducational independent British boarding and day school located in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia, educating just over 1,000 pupils aged 3 to 18. The College has built an outstanding reputation, ranking among the top 10 schools in Southeast Asia in the Carfax Education Schools Index, featuring in the 2026 Spear's Schools Index of the world's top 100 private schools and holding COBIS Triple Beacon status in recognition of the strength of its safeguarding, pastoral care and leadership of well-being.

As a key strategic member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Second Master plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the College. MCM is a growing school on a very positive trajectory, and the appointee will arrive at a key moment to shape our ongoing development. This is a pivotal, wide-ranging role at the heart of College life, with responsibility for the smooth and effective day-to-day running of the College across its pastoral, academic and co-curricular dimensions.

The successful candidate will combine proven leadership experience in a senior role within a boarding school environment with the judgement, presence and emotional intelligence to lead with warmth and authority. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to bring clarity, structure and coherence to complex organisational environments is essential, as is boundless energy, good humour and flexibility. Existing international school experience is not a prerequisite and MCM welcomes applications from candidates in the UK independent sector as well as other high-performing international schools.

Applicants should submit a completed application form and an up-to-date CV (including comprehensive details of key achievements and responsibilities) along with a covering letter which fully addresses the competencies outlined in this Candidate Information document.

Completed applications should be uploaded here, quoting reference 8454.

The closing date for applications is 09:00am GMT on Monday, 21st September 2026.
