Job overview
Secondary Art Teacher
Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is looking for an Art and Design specialist for its Secondary School in Vientiane.
Panyathip International School is widely regarded as an ambitious school as it develops and grows. The School's Vision "Become the Best that You can Be" is its guiding principle and recent developments have shown what that means in practical ways. These include the opening of a purpose-built Primary Campus, just a few minutes from the Secondary School and now it is the Secondary School's turn for upgrade and re-development as we also provide appropriate infra-structure for our new Foundation Course in partnership with Nottingham University.
In many ways, just like on our other campuses, the Secondary School is like a large family; students and staff are seen as individuals and classes are small allowing the team to have a strong collegial approach.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable and experienced in teaching Art and Design to secondary aged students. Whilst experience is preferred - we are really looking for someone with passion and experience who will teach the subject. The present incumbent has served the students well and whilst the subject has been embedded into the curriculum there are still many opportunities for the successful candidate to take the initiative and take it to a new level.
Vientiane is the capital of Laos which is separated from Thailand by the mighty Mekong river. The border with Thailand is not far over the 'Friendship Bridge' where there are further amenities.
Vientiane itself seems more like a large town rather than the seat of government. There are cafes and restaurants and a range of different cultural opportunities available in the city or nearby. The airport provides easy access to neighbouring countries and within Laos, for example, the UNESCO World Heritage destination of Luang Prabang is less than an hour away by plane. (The really adventurous can travel there by road or river - though both take a little longer).
For those with a sense of adventure Vientiane is an ideal location to be - and this is a particularly good time to join us as 2018 is Visit Laos Year with lots of cultural and other events.

The School was initially registered as a Private Education Institute by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Bilingual School as it offered both an English as well as Lao programme, but has now gained the recognition as The British International School in Laos.
