Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring Biology Teacher to join our experienced and innovative Science Faculty. The team is highly collaborative and enjoy evidence-based innovation of curriculum and classroom practice; the development of a forward thinking, skills-based curriculum in Key Stage 3 is the result of this approach. Students have the option to choose either Double or Triple Science at GCSE and science subjects at IB Diploma level are in high demand. The successful candidate will:  

  • Be able to teach all three science subjects up to Key Stage 4    
  • Be able to teach Biology to Key Stage 5 - experience of IB Diploma would be an advantage   
  • Have an understanding and belief in skills-based learning in science

  • St Julian's provides a 1:1 iPad programme for students in KS3 and all students bring their own laptop in KS4 and 5; we use Google Workspace for Education Plus as a learning platform. All teaching staff work with Macbooks.

  • Work in teams to create and maintain an effective partnership with parents and staff to support and improve students’ achievement and personal development;          
  • Be committed to own professional development;          
  • A working knowledge of Google Apps and the confidence to work with iPads and other 1-to-1 technology would be an advantage;          
  • Be an experienced leader able develop high performing teams on a foundation of trust and strong relationships. Be able to teach all three science subjects up to Key Stage 4 and Biology to Key Stage 5. Experience of IB Diploma would be an advantage.

St. Julian’s School is a private co-educational not-for-profit school founded in 1932 with a strong record of academic achievement and extra-curricular activity. From Nursery (age 3+) to Year 11 (age 16+) St. Julian’s models the curricula on those currently mandated to schools in England by the UK Department for Education. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) embraces the two years of Nursery and Reception, ages three to five. Thereafter students progress through the Key Stages of the curriculum.

The Secondary section attempts to nurture in each student a sense of self-confidence and happiness; students are encouraged to speak up for themselves and relationships between teachers and students are lively, engaging and stimulating. At the end of Key Stage 4, students take a series of public examinations (GCSE and IGCSEs).

After age 16, St. Julian’s prepares students for university by offering courses leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma. St. Julian’s consistently achieves extraordinary results.
