Teacher of English

Memorial International School of Tirana is seeking to appoint an experienced English teacher for KS3 to KS5 during an exciting phase in the school’s development and continued expansion. There is some flexibility available within the role, depending on the strengths and background of the appointee.

MIST has a growing population of about 350 students in K-13. We are accredited by Cambridge Assessment International Education as well as  the by Albanian Ministry of Education and  follow the Cambridge International Curriculum  for all year groups. Primary Checkpoint, KS3 Checkpoint and IGSCE exams are mandatory for all students. A-Level studies, including English Language, are an option for senior students.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a dynamic and creative approach to teaching and have experience of teaching English Language and Literature at KS3, KS4 and/or KS5, ideally in an international setting and/or with students for whom English is an additional language. The appointee will also have the necessary skills and vision to enhance teaching and learning within the department. Supervisory experience is an added advantage and extra responsibility, including the Head of English role, may be available to a suitably experienced candidate.

Applicants should be fully qualified teachers (UK BEd or PGCE with relevant degree, or hold the equivalent recognised teaching qualifications from other countries) with several years’ experience in a similar position. We are looking for a candidate who:

 Has a key understanding of issues and recent developments in international education

 Uses innovative and resourceful teaching methods, as well as possessing strong IT skills

 Has good interpersonal skills and are able to build strong relationships with students, staff and parents

 Has previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language

 Has an excellent record of attendance and punctuality

 Is committed to differentiation and SEN inclusive practice

 Can effectively monitor, assess and track children’s progress
