Job overview

We are seeking to employ an experienced and qualified Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant, ideally with a knowledge of Cerebral Palsy or a willingness to learn about this.  Initially working within a mixed class of Upper Key Stage 2 and Lower Key Stage 3 pupils (maximum of 6/8 pupils), the successful candidate needs to be able to support children academically up to GCSE, with the support of the class teacher.  The role will involve adapting resources, advising others and being the 'expert' regarding VI to ensure that children with VI are advocated for and accommodated within Connect.  The confidence to lead small groups without the teacher present is essential, strong literacy and numeracy skills are therefore highly desirable.

This is  a full time post and is required from September with the expectation that meetings and handover days will take place in advance in order to prepare for the role.  The closing date for applications is Monday 7th June although we reserve the right to close the advert early if appropriate.
