We are looking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic maths teacher, willing to work in a team of six hardworking, committed and highly motivated colleagues responding to the challenges of a unique school.
The candidate will have a range of teaching experience covering all age groups in a secondary school and show a willingness to take on a mixture of classes from low attaining to prospective A-level calibre students.
The ability to produce engaging, real-life applicable resources which take into account the unique needs of second language learners will be an advantage.
Applications from candidates who have used their IT skills in the teaching of mathematics will be particularly welcomed.
The maths department has a history of examination success and students have performed well above UAE national averages at KS3, IGCSE and A-level. We also liaise closely with the inclusion department to identify students who need extra help in mastering the key skills. In-class support is available for some students from TLAs and ILSAs.
Students are set from Year 7 and taught in ability groups throughout each year group. Most of the teaching materials and resources have been written by department members and follow a pattern of core and extension material. The language used is carefully monitored so that every student can access the curriculum whatever his English language skills.
Students are currently divided into five sets in Years 7-11 although this may change.
In Years 7 and 8, students follow a 3-tier KS3 program based on the English national curriculum.
In Years 9, 10 and 11, students follow the Pearson Edexcel 9-1 syllabus sitting their IGCSEs at the end of Year 11.
In Years 12 and 13, students either enter the AS/A-level course or the internal 'RSB Maths Studies' programme.
In addition, those students who wish to apply for further study in US institutions must attend an external SAT preparation course and more recently, all students must gain a local EMSAT qualification.
All interested candidates who live in the local region may be invited to teach a lesson as part of the interview process.
The salary structure is based on a ten point scale. The basic salary will depend upon previous experience but will be in the range of AED 13,000 to 19,470 per month. A teacher with ten years’ experience will start at the top of the pay scale. The salary is tax free and paid at the end of each month. There is a terminal gratuity between AED 8,715 and AED 23,000 for each year of employment (this amount increases throughout your employment).
There are a range of additional allowances paid to staff on an overseas contract which will be discussed if you are invited to interview.
Applications should be addressed to Mr. Mark Shahparaki, Headmaster and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and should include:
