Young people are the world's future innovators and problem solvers, making it crucial for them to master the foundations of Science to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Science gives us the tools we need to interpret and understand the world around us, and scientific discovery is how we'll solve our greatest challenges.

Are you passionate about supporting schools, students and teachers to have access to high-quality Science education and personalised Science homework?

We believe that there is an opportunity to help, starting by supercharging the quality and quantity of practice outside of the classroom with systems that get students thinking deeply about science and reduce teacher workload.

If you believe passionately in the role of science education and in improving the lives of young people and changing the world, and you’d like to be part of our mission at Sparx, then we would love to hear from you.

Overview of Key Responsibilities:

Your principal role will be to feed your knowledge and experience of improving children's Science outcomes in schools into Sparx' product development and strategy to ensure we build, scale and support Science programmes that transform children's learning. Specific responsibilities will therefore include:

  • Working with the Science team to increase commercial awareness of Sparx Science and Sparx products, utilising the expertise of our team and key professionals within this space;
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders such as teachers and school leaders and Multi Academy Trusts which are based on collaboration and open feedback;
  • Collating feedback from schools who are using our products, which can be used to inform creative decisions and targeted support;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Design and Product;
  • Supporting the production of quality content that teachers can rely on to provide a high level of support to students;
  • Collating accurate Science data, with the support of our Insights team, which can be shared with schools and used to make informed and impactful decisions regarding our products;
  • Communicating with the Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors around key priorities concerning the direction of our Science products.

Requirements

You will have:

  • Extensive secondary school experience with a deep understanding of Science teaching and pedagogy across national and GCSE curricula
  • Experience of effectively training other staff members within a secondary school, and acting in a leadership or thought leadership capacity;
  • Experience employing best evidence-based practice of Science teaching in schools;
  • Extensive experience working with school leaders such as headteachers and Multi Academy Trusts;
  • Examples of being able to successfully implement and embed effective Science teaching strategies in school that lead to improved outcomes;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Science teaching research and how this is impacting national priorities in secondary schools.

Who we are:

Sparx Learning is dedicated to enhancing lives through learning by developing systems that empower students, teachers, and school leaders to improve educational outcomes. Proudly serving over 2 million children, 40,000 teachers and 2,300 schools worldwide, we're continuously working hard to expand our impact even further and make a positive difference.

Sparx Science creates tailored practice homework for each student, each week, driven by your scheme of learning. The practice is both challenging (to ensure students need to think) and, crucially, achievable (so that students can be successful). Homework is automatically marked, saving teachers time.

Together, we’re:

  • Agile - we view change as an opportunity to continually improve. We adapt with pace, enthusiasm and determination
  • Empathetic - we listen to and try to think like others to aid our understanding and to enhance learning
  • Data Driven - we use data to make informed decisions to help solve the problems that really matter
  • United - we harness our collective and individual genius, and trust in each other’s strengths
