The Role

Secondary Science Teacher - Grade 8 science and Grades 9-10 Biology

We are seeking an outstanding Science teacher to join the Secondary School for Maternity leave cover, teaching Grade 8 science and Grades 9-10 Biology. The candidate should be a biology specialist with also experience of teaching both Chemistry and Physics. Candidates need to be enthusiastic about teaching their subject to students in an inclusive school setting. Experience of teaching in an IB school is also desirable but not essential. We are looking for someone who is passionate about international education, creative in their thinking and a student of learning. The successful candidate will also be adaptable, motivated by challenge and an excellent classroom practitioner. Please see the job description for further details. A specialism in Biology would be preferable but not a requirement.

What do we look for?

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a PGCE or an equivalent qualification
• Degree in the relevant subject area
• Biology specialist with experience of teaching Grade 8 science and Grades 9-10 Biology
• Experience of teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Experience of teaching IB programmes
• A demonstrable alignment with the ethos of the IB and a genuine commitment to international-mindedness would compensate in many ways.
• Experience of using effective differentiation and assessment techniques are, however, essential.
