April/September 2020 (Permanent contract)
MPS incorporating Inner London Allowance + TLR 2B/2A (dependent on experience)
Roll 1800 (Secondary) 270+ (Primary)
Excellent opportunity for an inspirational secondary teacher to join our forward thinking SEN/D team in an all through 3-19 community school. The team of three middle leaders, assistant SENCo and teaching assistants is led by the Head of Curriculum Access and Social inclusion. The school was judged good with an outstanding sixth form in July 2018. Full training will be provided for those without the National award for SEN / D coordination (and if appointed on TLR 2A you will be expected to complete within 2 years).
We are at the heart of an ethnically diverse community in London East, an area undergoing significant regeneration and the building of affordable homes. Everyone is proud of what we are achieving in creating an inclusive, supportive, happy 3-19 all through school on a brand new campus.
The school is located less than 10 minutes’ walk from Barking tube and mainline station (25 minutes from Liverpool Street / Fenchurch Street station) and is easily accessible by road.
We are seeking a well-qualified and ambitious professional to share in the leadership of SEN/D provision in the secondary phase and bring to life a vision that can inspire and motivate children and staff. Our new Secondary Phase SENCO will be motivated to make a difference to the life chances of young people and help the school to move to overall outstanding. The post would suit a team player who is committed to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school. The ability or desire to teach in our primary phase would be an advantage but is not essential.
You will be required to keep up-to-date with new SEN/D policy and practice, and through day to day teaching practice be able to provide demonstration lessons to both teachers and teaching assistants. You must demonstrate a love of teaching and a desire to improve the pupils’ learning within the classroom. Successful applicants holding the SENCO qualification will be offered the post on TLR 2b, and those taking the qualification after being appointed will be offered TLR 2a.
We have the highest expectations of everyone and can offer
• Highly aspirational pupils who are eager to learn; and very supportive families
• A highly supportive school in which teaching and learning are care are the key priorities
• A suitable time allowance to fulfil this key role in the school
• Career development
• Access to the LBBD affordable quality housing scheme
