Leipzig International School is an independent non-profit day school for students from Nursery to Grade 12. It operates at two locations: on Könneritzstraße (School, Grades 1 through 12) and on Karl-Heine-Straße (kindergarten).

We are looking for a Secondary School Teacher to start 01 August 2018 to join the Secondary School Science department to teach IBDP and IGCSE Biology and General Science. A leadership role in the Secondary Management Team (SMT) may be available for a suitably experienced candidate.The contract of employment is initially time limited for two years, extension possible.

As the ideal candidate, you should be a person who is able to teach Biology and general Science across the school including Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE and IBDP courses. You will support the development and learning of children in a caring and inspiring way and recognize that an education in Science is about transferable skills as well as content. You will be part of a collaborative team that plans units and assessments together and is expected to share best practices in teaching and learning. Teachers at LIS are encouraged to work in a range of ways with their classes to allow individuals, pairs and groups to develop the analysis, evaluation, synthesis and creation of ideas through subject content. The IB Learner Profile is a guiding document in our work.

Your qualifications:

  • A degree in Biology 
  • A teaching certification or qualification

About Leipzig International School

The Leipzig International School (LIS) is a non-profit day school, founded in 1991 to serve the needs of the international community of the Leipzig region. LIS has grown steadily since it opened as the first International School in the state of Saxony as a pre-school and elementary school. LIS is the oldest and largest international school in central Germany, run by a non-charitable organisation. In the Leipzig International Kindergarten we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, yet play remains the basis for learning. We use the ‘High Scope’ approach to develop the children’s growth and individuality. Additionally, the International Primary Curriculum is introduced in Early Years 3 (reception) classes.

The school is centrally located in the city adjacent to a beautiful park containing a woodland area and a river.
