  • Aspirational, progressive and dynamic education environment
  • Eleven New Zealand campuses across the North and South Islands
  • Fixed-term or permanent - an excellent opportunity to combine teaching and travel

Do you want to work in a well-resourced, innovative and progressive education environment?

OneSchool Global is an affiliation of 22 privately registered schools with 175 campuses across 21 countries. Each schooling entity shares the same ethos, values and vision and is registered with the relevant authorities in their state, province or country. OneSchool supports each of these schools in their common desire to provide a consistent quality of education to over 10,000 students across the globe.

With eleven campuses across New Zealand, Westmount School is a Year 3-13 independent school with an affiliation to OneSchool. Westmount is unique, delivering the New Zealand curriculum to over 1,700 students across 16 sites, small classes with motivated and high-achieving students, modern well-equipped learning spaces, an innovative approach to education and a strong focus on self-directed learning.

We are seeking applications from fully qualified secondary teachers, preferably with New Zealand teacher registration, for January and/or April 2019. Successful candidates can be based at any of Westmount’s campuses across New Zealand. While not essential, experience teaching via Zoom or video-conference would be an advantage as would experience in teaching English, Mathematics and/or Science.

Westmount would suit inspirational teachers with a clear understanding of 21st Century learning practices and experience working in a collaborative modern learning environment.

"As an educator, our challenge is not just to harness the potential technology can offer to support quality pedagogy, but to use technology to extend learning opportunities and curriculum breadth for all students.”

Affiliated to OneSchool Global, Westmount School is a New Zealand registered and accredited private multi-campus school. With eleven campuses across the North and South Island, Westmount is unique, delivering the New Zealand curriculum to over 1,700 students across 16 sites, small classes with motivated and high-achieving students, modern well-equipped learning spaces, an innovative approach to education and a strong focus on self-directed learning.

The School’s special character, ethos, values statement and guiding principles govern the School and are aligned with the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. Our “Learning to Learn framework” provides a foundation for innovative teaching and learning opportunities within the New Zealand Curriculum and gives a platform for our students to attain outstanding education and personal achievements. We focus on each individual student reaching their full potential. Every student at every level. Students are strongly encouraged to make the most of their educational experience at Westmount. Our focus on each student developing as a Self-Directed Learner is a key part of our learning design and professional development for our staff. To support Learning to Learn and students' development as Self-Directed Learners, our Innovative Learning Environments are well-resourced and technology-rich and located in most New Zealand regions.

Our distributed campus model includes the use of high quality conferencing facilities and equipment for campus to-campus communication. We make the best use of our human resources in ensuring that learners have access to specialist teachers in curriculum learning areas. Success is fostered through co-operation, communication and cohesion of students, staff and parents who make up much of our voluntary support personnel.

We have a focus on recruiting and retaining quality teachers and offer an attractive package with competitive remuneration, good student discipline, proven academic performance and small class sizes.

Many of our teachers have years of experience teaching in both government and independent schools in New Zealand, Australia and abroad. This breadth of diversity of professional background along with ongoing professional development provides Westmount with a strong teaching structure. Teaching in this environment along with small class sizes contributes greatly to job satisfaction and excellent student outcomes.

Westmount is committed to the New Zealand curriculum and its associated pedagogy. We take every opportunity to be part of Ministry of Education provided learning and development programs and provide a Westmount school-wide professional learning and development plan and courses.

Mission Statement

Westmount is a registered private school providing education recognised by the Government but free of detrimental influences that exist in society.

Our mission is to ensure that our students develop the understanding, skills, knowledge and attitudes which are not only compatible with their beliefs but will also enable them to fulfil their potential and contribute to their community and the community at large.

Ethos

At this School, students are encouraged to develop their full potential and acquire the discipline of learning how to learn, while upholding Christian teachings and beliefs.

The truth and authority of the Holy Bible and strong family values underpin the commitment of the School to provide quality in every facet of education - curriculum, teachers, facilities, management and discipline - in a safe and caring environment.

Our Values

Each student, parent and staff member shall uphold the values of the School which include:

  • Integrity - uprightness, honesty and decorous conduct;
  • Care and Compassion - kindness, consideration and generosity to all;
  • Respect - for all people, property, opinions and authority;
  • Responsibility - for our actions, progress and the environment; and
  • Commitment - to self-discipline and the pursuit of excellence.

OneSchool Global

OneSchool is one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive, truly global schools. With over 9,500 students, 130 campuses and 2,500 staff operating across 21 countries, OneSchool’s global education ecosystem provides an environment in which our staff and students thrive.

We develop learners who “learn how to learn”. We facilitate this learning through a forward looking and pioneering approach to education. While academic excellence has and always will be a priority, OneSchool challenges dated educational practices and processes with our Self-Directed Learning program. We place the focus on what and how students are learning, rather than merely on what is being taught.

As a school, OneSchool is unique in terms of its global scale. Whilst you might be a teacher at a school in any one of the five regions globally, you are connected to over 2,500 teaching professionals who are your peers across the globe.

Our global leadership team works alongside the Chief Operating Officers, Regional Leadership Teams and Regional Principals across the five regions of our global operations:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand (including Argentina)
  • North America (including Caribbean)
  • United Kingdom
  • Europe
