Description | Classroom teaching and duties as directed by the School Principal. St Bede’s Catholic College is the newest school in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese which opened in 2018 with 110 Year 7 students. The school neighbours St Aloysius Primary school which opened in 2015. St Bede’s is currently taking enrolments for Year 7 2019. It will eventually operate as a Year 7-12 co-educational school accommodating in excess of 1000 students. All teachers are expected to meet the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) required by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). These Standards are reflected in the attached Position Description. | |
Position Requirements | This position will require an ability to demonstrate:
• an understanding and commitment to the Catholic ethos and integrating of Gospel values into the curriculum (APST 7.1) • an ability to differentiate teaching to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities(APST 1.5)an • an ability to use assessments to assess and improve student learning (APST 5.1) • the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues in developing and implementing a contemporary and engaging pedagogy (APST 3 & 6) • an ability to use technology to support innovative teaching (APST 2.6) • an ability to use effective teaching strategies to support students’ literacy and numeracy achievement (APST 2.5) • a commitment to on-going professional development linked to the College’s Strategic and School Improvement Plans (APST 6) • an active commitment to community service and social justice (APST 7) |

Essential Criteria | • Applicants will need to comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead - formerly the Faith Education Accreditation (FEA) Policy 2012 and will need to work towards Accreditation at Category D – Accreditation to Teach Religion.
• Must be a practising Catholic • Current NESA and Working With Children number must be recorded on application. • Be appropriately qualified as a four year trained secondary teacher. • Evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied. (https://etraining.allergy.org.au/login/index.php) Note: To start or return to working as a teacher in a NSW school, you must be accredited by NESA. |
