White Trees School are currently recruiting for a SEMH Tutor/Bus Driver to work with KS3, 4 & 5 pupils.

White Trees is an independent school that specialises in working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

We are linked closely to multiple School sites within the Group and share the same Headteacher and Senior Management Team. However each site has its own Lead, team of Teachers, Tutors and TA’s. 

Although the sites operate separately on the whole, students and staff do cross between sites to access various activities and learning opportunities.

We are currently looking to expand our current team in line with the school’s growth plan.

About the Role

As a SEMH Tutor/Bus Driver for White Trees Independent School you will be responsible for driving the 7.5 ton Bus to suitable locations to facilitate the education of our young people who cannot access a classroom. You will also Support the member of teaching staff, as required, in the delivery of the education or supporting off-site activities. 

All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan, with ILP’s written based upon outcomes and aims from their EHCP’s, which identify strategies and interventions to support their needs.

Responsibilities

• Source potential new locations for the Bus that are suitable for education purposes

• Complete risk assessments pertinent to the Bus and the education of each young person, educated on our mobile classroom

• Complete local area risk assessments for any new locations that are suitable for education purposes

• Perform all relevant daily and weekly health and safety checks to ensure the safe and legal running of the Bus

• Undertake daily and weekly internal and external cleaning of the Bus to ensure an appropriate environment is maintained for high quality education

• To liaise with line manager about any repairs or issues with the Bus in a timely manner

• To be responsible for the internal upkeep of the Bus in terms of educational resources and refreshments

Qualifications and Skills Required

• C1 entitled on your Driving Licence

• Catergory B – Test passed before 1997

• Experience of Driving a 7.5ton Vehicle

• Experience of working with young people with SEMH, ASD, ADHD
