Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher who has a passion to work creatively to deliver the curriculum to a class of up to 11 children with Severe and Complex Needs.

Tubbenden is a three form Primary School with an Additionally Resourced Provision for Children with Severe and Complex Needs in three classes.  We work as a team and share a clear understanding of what we are aiming to achieve. We are open to new ideas, and prepared to try new things! Our Ofsted report describes the school as being ‘an incredibly caring school’ and that ‘a nurturing community where everyone is valued’.

Experience in teaching children with SEN is desirable but not a necessity. A flexible approach to learning and a good sense of humour are essential.

Candidates will need to:

- be committed to high standards of behaviour, achievement and personal development

- have an understanding and experience of delivering new approaches to teaching and learning including a sensory curriculum

- be an excellent classroom practitioner

- have a strong commitment to helping students of all abilities succeed

- be innovative and inspirational to both students and colleagues

Our school can offer:

- a friendly and supportive working environment

- experienced teaching assistants in the Provision

- supportive parents

- continuing professional development

The successful candidate will be expected to be fully committed to the ethos and aims of the school.

You would be most welcome to visit. This can be arranged by emailing Mrs Vineall, the Headteacher’s PA: linda.vineall@tubbenden.bromley.sch.uk or telephone: 01689 851653.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 21st May 2019 at noon

Interviews will be held on Friday 24th May 2019

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Any offer of appointment for post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Values and vision

Our vision for Tubbenden Primary is of a vibrant, happy and inclusive community school where every child is able to thrive - to become confident with a love of learning.’

Our school promotes an agreed set of values. These values underpin all that we do and incorporate traditional British values. We aim that by the time they leave Tubbenden all children will have a firm understanding that their own actions have an impact of on themselves, each other, the world around them and the community, and that their impact will be positive. To support this aim we have developed our ‘knighting’ system. All children who come to Tubbenden automatically become Squires (trainee knights). They strive to become Knights of Tubbenden, living up to the school values.

Tubbenden Primary School aims for all children, by the time they leave, to understand that their actions have an impact on themselves, other people and the world around them. To support this aim, the school has developed a "knighting" system.

The primary aspires to attract the best staff, to be ecologically friendly, and to be highly regarded within the local community. The curriculum is effectively supported by ICT and is driven by creativity, wider learning and building successful learning behaviours which will last a lifetime.

Tubbenden Primary School wishes to promote a love of learning among its students and prides itself on having a supportive but challenging governing body.

Ofsted report

“Teaching and learning across the school are good. Teachers know the pupils well and have very secure working relationships with them so that they are keen to do their very best. Pupils feel safe in school and say that adults take good care of them. Behaviour is often very good in class and throughout the school where there is a vibrant climate for learning. The governing body and the school’s senior leaders have a good understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for development.”
