SEN Class Teacher

Addington Valley AcademyCroydon

Location:  Temporary site at Canterbury Road, Croydon - moving to a newly constructed school in New Addington, Surrey

Addington Valley Academy (AVA) is a co-educational Special School which will have 150 places for children and young people aged 2-19 who have autism and social communication, cognitive, sensory and social, emotional, and behavioural needs in the Croydon region. All our children have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). We opened in September 2020 with an initial cohort of 22 ASD year 7 pupils in a temporary site based in Croydon.

Addington Valley Academy are seeking to recruit Class Teachers with Qualified Teacher status to be responsible for the education and welfare of designated classes or groups of pupils with complex needs on the Autistic Spectrum. You will be a passionate and committed advocate for SEND children and comfortable teaching across the key stages. From September 2021 the school will have children aged between 4 – 14 years who will work across a pathway system depending on the needs of the children.

Experience of working with pupils with SEN, ASD or SLD is desirable but not essential, what is important is you have the drive, creativity and a passion for teaching and learning to join our new team. A full CPD programme will be offered to include PECs, Team-Teach, Attention Autism and TEACCH.

This is an exciting time in the school’s development with a planned relocation to a newly constructed school building for the academic year 2021-22 with a fantastic learning environment designed to meet the needs of autistic children.

Addington Valley Academy benefits from being part of Orchard Hill College (the College) and Orchard Hill College Academy Trust (the Trust), a family of specialist education providers for pupils and students from nursery to further education across London, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex. As an outstanding provider and Academy sponsor, Orchard Hill College has a strong track record for making a positive impact within the local communities it serves.
