Slated Row is a special school for children aged from 4 to 19, providing mainly for children with a wide range of needs and learning difficulties.  The school has a maximum design capacity for 160 pupils, although currently there are 183 pupils on roll. The school occupies an attractive and semi rural site, conveniently situated on the edge of Wolverton in the new city of Milton Keynes.

The school is over subscribed year on year and attracts a high calibre of applicants for positions at both Teaching, Management and Teaching assistant levels. The promotion of independence is a major priority throughout the school, with many opportunities provided for pupils to participate in community based projects so that they can experience to the full, the opportunities afforded to them beyond school.

The school’s governing body is also extremely active, supportive, hardworking and experienced.  Its structure and standing ensure that they can maintain a detailed working knowledge of the school, placing them in an excellent position to steer its future development.

Slated Row is a friendly, caring and orderly establishment where high standards of teaching, learning, motivation, application and behaviour are the expected norm.  This not only ensures a safe and happy environment, but also a willingness to achieve and for pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Slated Row School was awarded its third ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted Inspection in November 2013. Over the last ten years the school has gone from strength to strength.

Some excerpts from the report as follows;

‘This is an outstanding school. Excellent leadership and management by the headteacher and senior team, together with the consistent commitment and teamwork of staff and governors have resulted in Slated Row sustaining, building and improving on its outstanding achievements since its previous inspection.

Teaching is inspirational. Teachers and support staff have an excellent understanding of their pupils needs, adapting activities extremely effectively to enable each pupil to make the best possible progress.

Pupils achieve consistently well in all areas of the curriculum. The school provides an excellent range of experiences and does much to support pupils’ outstanding development’.
