An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a small independent SEN school, with ambitions to grow and expand.

Hope House School is a small independent special school which is a charity that educates and supports young people of all ages who have an autism spectrum disorder and associated conditions.

Our aim is to provide a caring and calm environment where everyone feels valued, secure and able to learn.

We are set in open countryside just outside Newark in Nottinghamshire, and have places for 30 pupils on roll. Consultation with the school is via local authority SEND departments and caseworkers.

The school provides a bespoke individualised offer for each young person that fits with their EHCP and needs.

As an SEN Classroom Teacher you will need to teach either individuals or small groups of pupils, create lesson plans and practical learning activities based on the national curriculum, differentiate lessons to give all learners access to the curriculum and evaluate learners performance working with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs.

To be successful for this SEN Teaching position, you will:

  • Hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Unqualified Teacher, Degree Level
  • Have experience of planning and delivering lessons, based on the national curriculum and a good understanding of special educational needs  
  • Have the ability to identify and support learners with differing needs and encourage learners by using innovative and resourceful teaching methods
  • Promote the importance of education
  • Be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment following safeguarding procedures
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to develop professional relationship boundaries with children and parent/carers.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and flexibility to move educational success forward across the school
