The Holmewood School is an independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our young people are broadly similar to their mainstream peers in their academic ability but require support with communication and interaction, executive functioning, anxiety, functional skills and other needs related to their diagnosis. Many of our young people also have coaccurring diagnoses, such as ADHD and dyslexia.

We were awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted following their visit in May 2022 and we are proud to have Advanced Accreditation Status granted by the National Autistic Society.

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic drama teacher or specialist to join our team of creative teachers to teach up to GCSE level including Bronze, Silver and Gold Arts Awards. You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our group of learners and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

You may be a qualified drama teacher who has experience in SEN, or you may come from a different drama background with experience of teaching and working with a range of young people with additional needs. We would also like to hear from drama teachers who have experience or interest in teaching other subjects.

We can offer you the benefits of working in a small, warm and friendly school to an independent school calendar with increased holidays and excellent professional training and development.

We are located in North London on two sites. Our Lower School is conveniently situated directly opposite Woodside Park station on the Northern line. Our Upper School is located in leafy Muswell Hill (backing on to Alexandra Palace). We work closely with the other schools in our group, have extensive community links and believe in ‘thinking differently’ and being as creative as possible in our teaching.

A flexible approach to teaching, a willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life, and the ability to work under pressure with young people that can challenge us is essential to enable the best outcomes for our group of learners. Experience of working with young people with autism, behaviour needs or mental health needs will be highly beneficial.

Closing date: Monday 7th November at 9am

Interviews and teaching observations will be held at The Holmewood School (site to be confirmed) week commencing Monday 14th November.

Applicants must be able to provide evidence of having the right to live and work in the UK.

Please apply via the TES website. Further application details are available from Jeanette Bar, HR Administrator, on 020 8920 0660, enquiries@thsl.org.uk or at the above address.

THSL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
