The Role
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Inclusion and Monitoring Project Teacher fixed term for 12 months.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the SEN Inclusion and Monitoring Team. We are all specialist teachers who together are helping to deliver the LA commitment to improving the life chances of children with SEND and their families in Southwark through high quality EHCP co-production, monitoring and review.
This post has a focus on ensuring EHC plans for pupils who are changing phase are updated and amended appropriately, are high quality and resourced suitably and equitably. You will work in partnership with schools, relevant professionals, parents and young people, using your knowledge of educational issues, provisions and practices to ensure that the plan accurately reflects the needs of the child/young person, the outcomes to be achieved and the provision required.
You will have opportunities to contribute to other work carried out by the SEN Inclusion and Monitoring team including developing new plans, training, supporting and challenging schools and championing best practice. Where appropriate you may be asked to support other colleagues and carry out activities across the broader SEND team remit.
You'll have successful recent experience of SEND in both a teaching and management capacity, with a good understanding of SEND legislation and guidance and the implications for schools, other professionals and parents/carers.
You will be self-managing and confident to carry out a wide range of tasks and will need to be a good problem solver. You'll have excellent communication skills, the ability to relate to a wide range of clients and partner agencies and manage difficult or challenging meetings.
