Are you looking for an exciting challenge in a new environment? An excellent opportunity has become available for an innovative, enthusiastic SEN Learning Mentor at Ossett Academy & Accord Sixth Form.

We are seeking to appoint to the role of SEN Learning Mentor to support Lead SEN Learning Mentors and the SENCO with curriculum provision and learning support for targeted students at risk of significant underachievement and to support individuals with enhanced needs; specifically but not exclusively supporting students with enhanced needs on the autism spectrum.

In this varied role applicants will be required to demonstrate flexibility, have some experience of working with vulnerable/challenged/challenging children and young people and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and students alike.

At Ossett Academy and Sixth Form, we strive to create an environment where students enjoy learning and are given the opportunity to stretch themselves both academically and also through a wide range of other extra-curricular activities. Our success is founded on traditional values set in a warm, friendly environment.

Ossett Academy is part of the Accord Multi Academy Trust which is a Wakefield based Trust; all four academies in the Trust are closely located to one another which lends itself to many opportunities to work closely and collaboratively. All academies are within a three-mile radius of one another and can be found a short drive off junction 40 of the M1.

Talk to our staff or pupils and you will find out how proud we are of our unique academy, its supportive atmosphere and strong team ethos. We’re more than happy to speak with prospective applicants to get in touch and see what makes us great! Contact the HR team on hr@accordmat.org  and we’ll make the arrangements or would be happy to answer any other questions you may have.

For more details, or if you’re ready to apply, visit our website at https://ossett.accordmat.org/recruitment/  where you will find the application form available to download.

Please return completed application forms to the Accord HR Department at hr@accordmat.org

Closing date: 9.00am on Tuesday 16 November 2021.

Interviews are expected to be held on week commencing 22 November 2021.

Ossett Academy and Accord Sixth Form is committed equal opportunities and to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

About Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College

Ossett Academy is an 11-19 academy with over 1670 pupils, including 300 in our Sixth Form. It has gained a reputation for excellence, maintaining high standards across all aspects of academy life with high academic attainment and an explosion of extra-curricular opportunity and talent. As a result of these factors and their strong reputation, they are significantly over-subscribed.

Their strong tradition of success is built on a firm foundation of personalised pastoral care, ensuring a climate for learning that is calm, well ordered and secure. Recognising the hard work and efforts of pupils in their lessons, the academy puts learning and positive recognition of both staff and pupils, at the heart of its approach.

The academy understands that collaboration is an important aspect to the ongoing development of schools and academies and, with this in mind, it continues to play a key role alongside its primary pyramid, as a member of Education Ossett Community Trust (EOCT). EOCT aims to provide world-class opportunities for the community of Ossett, supporting young people aged 3 to 18 to develop a lifelong passion for learning, across a range of experiences.

Further to this partnership approach, Ossett Academy works alongside Horbury Academy, Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy as part of the Accord Multi Academy Trust. The vision of this partnership is to enhance both practice and knowledge of learning across primary and secondary education, whilst also providing access for pupils and staff to an even better range of opportunities in order to achieve excellence.

Principal: Mrs S Broome
